You’re The Sunshine in My Day

Mostly Blue

The sky is full of clouds and the rain is pouring down.
It’s Sunday afternoon; there’s nobody else around
I’m stuck here by myself and you’re so far away.
I only wish you’d come on back and say you’re gonna stay.
Me minus you equals the blues
You’re the sunshine in my day

The night grows dark and cold; the wind begins to blow.
As the fades in the west my heartache only grows
There’s nothing I can do and nowhere I can go
To escape this constant sadness and sorrow that I know.
Me minus you equals the blues
You’re the sunshine in my day

I’ve tried so hard to chase these blues away.
Somehow they always return.
It happens every time someone mentions your name.
Maybe someday I’ll learn.

But tonight I’ll dream again about another time
When I had warmth and light and you were truly mine.
And maybe in the morning a letter will convey
That you’ll be coming back to me, and this time you’ll really stay.
Me minus you equals the blues
You’re the sunshine in my day

Lonely For You

Mostly Blue

I’m doin’ OK
Things are goin’ my way
I keep myself together for most of the day
“Til I get lonely for you
Only for you
When I need you baby
Nothin’ else will do
I get so blue
When I get lonely for you

The curl of your smile
That look in your eye
The way you wink at me
When you walk by
Makes me lonely for you
Only for you
No one else can wet my whistle
Like you do
You know that it’s true
That’s why I’m  lonely for you

Baby where did you go?
And where can you be?
And why aren’t you lyin’
In this bed next to me?
How can I tell
How long it will be
Until you come and make
An honest man out of me

I can’t complain
But the feelings remain
And when I hear the whistle
Of that midnight train
I get so lonely for you
Baby, only for you
‘Cause when you’ve had the best
Nothing less will do
I get so blue
When I get lonely for you

I Get Blue

Swamp Yankee

Verse
Another Friday night
The week has come and gone
I’ll probably fall asleep
With the television on
With a beer can in my hand
And these memories of you
Sometimes in the night
I get blue

I’ll wake up with the lights on
In the middle of the night
Remember where I am
And turn out all the lights
I’ll stumble into bed
And dream of holding you
Sometimes in the night
I get blue

Bridge
I’ll sleep late on Saturday morning
I’ll go to a bar on Saturday night
I’ll try to find somebody new
But I’ll still be thinking of you
And she just won’t be quite my type

While I’m driving home
I’ll think I see your car
I’ll remember what you look like
And I’ll wonder where you are
I’ll get my hopes up
Until I see that it’s not you
Sometimes in the night
I get blue
Sometimes in the night
I get blue
