Everybody Got a Gun

Chorus
I got a gun, you got a gun, everybody got a gun
I got a gun, you got a gun, we all got a gun

Verse
There’s a police car in the parking of the middle school next door;
Every time I see it there I wonder what it’s for
Are they bustin’ preteens smokin’ weed and breakin’ rules
Or waiting for a shooter to show up at the school?

Chorus

You know this world is dog eat dog, you know it’s cat and mouse
There’s always some fool trying to break into your house
Maybe you got a doorbell that can talk and make them run
But you know you’re so much safer when you’ve got a gun

Chorus

I went down to Home Depot to return a bad light socket
Got in line behind a girl with a pistol in her pocket
I was gonna make some wisecrack just to have a little fun
But when I realized she could shoot me dead I bit and held my tongue

Chorus

I saw this guy at Walgreen’s in line to fill a scrip
Had a holster and a forty-five hanging from his hip
Beside him was a little guy; could have been his son
And you know, that kid was packing too, that little son of a gun

Chorus

With an AK-47 or an AR-15
You got yourself a hundred rounds inside your magazine
You can take out a small army or all the shoppers in a store
Ain’t nobody ever gonna mess with you – no way, no how, no more

Chorus

There’s about 6 million people (who) own 25 guns a piece
Maybe they’re shooting squirrels, maybe they’re shooting geese
The companies that sell these guns, they pay for the NRA
To buy off politicians so they won’t get in the way

Chorus

You never know who’s got a gun when you’re walking down the street
You can’t deny it makes some sense to get yourself some heat
It’s not my fault if the other guy had to go and start this fight
Wish I knew what I could do to try and make it right

Chorus
