It Didn’t Have to Be This Way

We got hundreds of thousands already dead
And countless millions been sick in bed
He’s got blood on his hands and rocks in his head
And it didn’t have to be this way

He lied through his teeth to those gullible folks
When he said that Covid is a big fat hoax
When he knew that the virus is no effing joke
And it didn’t have to be this way

If you don’t get tested than you don’t get sick
You don’t keep track it’s like a magic trick
It is what it is, whatever you say,
But we all know it doesn’t work that way

His man Doctor Atlas, he knew best
He said “you don’t need masks and you don’t need tests”
While the virus was surging from east to west
And it didn’t have to be this way

It’s not his people, it’s those Democrats
Those blue state governors, they’re the autocrats
Locking everything down for the scaredy-cats
But we knew it wasn’t really that way

He’s a super spreader, that’s for sure
Spreading viral lies and verbal manure
He’s got foot in mouth disease and there ain’t no cure
And it doesn’t have to be this way

You know what goes up must come down
It’s one of things that makes the world go ‘round
Say whatever you want, no matter what you say,
We know it didn’t have t o be this way

Mother Nature said to Father Time
These human beings better get into line
‘Cause what they’ve done to this world is a capital crime
And it didn’t have to be this way
It didn’t have to be this way
It doesn’t have to be this way
